Anton Korinek

Anton Korinek is an assistant professor at the Department of Economics of the University of Maryland. He received his Ph.D. from Columbia University in 2007. His main research interests are in the areas of international economics, macroeconomics and public finance, with special focus on the macroeconomic implications of imperfect financial markets. In his current research, Anton focuses on the externalities of financial crises and the lessons that can be drawn for financial regulation. He derives welfare theoretic foundations for regulating international capital flows to emerging market economies as well as for the regulation of systemic risk-taking in advanced financial systems.
