Chong Xiang is Associate Professor of Economics, and Director of Graduate Studies, at Economics Department, Purdue University, and Research Economist of the National Bureau of Economic Research. He got his PhD in economics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 2002.

His research includes how globalization and technology affect wages and inequality, the roles of scale economies and factor proportions in trade patterns, quality and income distribution, the global trade in motion pictures, and the globalization of Christianity. He has published in the American Economic Review, Journal of International Economics, Review of Economics and Statistics, and other academic journals.
