Costas Meghir

Costas Meghir is Professor of Economics and Head of Department at University College London and co-Director of the ESRC Centre for the Microeconomic Analysis of Public Policy at the Institute for Fiscal Studies. He is an elected Fellow of the British Academy, and a Fellow of the Econometric Society. He has been co-editor of Econometrica and joint managing editor of the Economic Journal. He has been visiting professor at University of Chicago (2000) and Stanford University (1994). He has published in the Economic Journal, Econometrica, the American Economic Review, the Review of Economic Studies, the Journal of Econometrics and in many other Journals. In 2000 he was awarded the Frisch medal by the Econometric Society for the best empirical paper in Econometrica over the previous five years. He has worked as a consultant for the World Bank and has acted as Advisor for the Greek ministry of Finance. His research interests lie in empirical microeconomics and microeconometrics, with special interest in Labour Economics, including labour supply and wages, the Economics of Education, Development Economics, Evaluation of Public Policy and Firm Investment.
