Fabienne Ilzkovitz is principal advisor responsible for economic evaluation of competition policy in the Competition Directorate General of the European Commission. She is also associate professor in the "Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management" of the Université Libre de Bruxelles. Previously, she held a position of director of the Directorate responsible for the implementation of EU competition policy (antitrust, merger and state aid control) in the Competition Directorate General of the European Commission (2010- 2013) and several positions of head of unit in the Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs of the European Commission (1985-2010). Before joining the Commission in 1985, she worked as research assistant at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (1976-1983) and as attaché in the research department of the National Bank of Belgium (1983-1985). She has published several papers and contributed to several books dealing with European integration, competition policy and industrial economics.
