Gábor Békés has been a research fellow at the Institute of Economics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (Budapest) since 2005. He received his Ph.D. degree in 2007 from the Central European University, and an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics. Before joining the Institute, he was a visiting researcher at the Magyar Nemzeti Bank and worked for Lehman Brothers, an investment bank in London. He teaches regional and urban economics policy at CEU, and has acted as consultant for Hungarian and international institutions, including the European Commission and the ECB. His research is focused on international economics, economic geography and applied IO, and has published in academic journals, including the Journal of International Economics.
