Jorge A. Chan-Lau

Jorge A. Chan-Lau is a Research Fellow at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, and a Senior Economist at the Chile Desk of the International Monetary Fund, where he has worked in several departments including the Research Department, the Monetary and Capital Markets Department, and the Western Hemisphere Department. During 2007-8 he was on leave at the International Finance Corporation, The World Bank Group, where he managed a pilot frontier emerging markets local currency loan portfolio; and in 2008 he was inducted to Risk Who's Who global directory of risk management. His current research focuses on the broad topic of macroeconomic and financial linkages and their policy implications for advanced economies and emerging market countries. He has published widely in the areas of financial stability, asset allocation, financial markets and risk modeling, and has been a regular contributor since 1999 to the Fund flagship publications, the International Capital Markets Report and the Global Financial Stability Report. He holds Ph.D. and a M.Phil. in Economics and Finance from the Graduate School of Business, Columbia University, and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.
