Kathleen Beegle

The World Bank

Kathleen Beegle is a lead economist in the Development Research Group (Poverty and Inequality team) at the World Bank. She is also a member of the World Bank Living Standards Measurement Study (LSMS) team. Her research interest includes the measurement of poverty dynamics, socio-economic dimensions of economic shocks, and methodological studies on household survey data collection. She was Deputy Director of the World Development Report 2013 on Jobs. She is now leading a flagship report on poverty in Africa. She received her Ph.D. in Economics from Michigan State University and worked at RAND before joining the World Bank.
