Martin Raiser

Martin Raiser is Country Director of the World Bank for Turkey based in Ankara. He was previously the Country Director for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova based in Kyiv and prior to that was Country Manager and head of office in Uzbekistan. Mr. Raiser was also the Director for Country Strategy and Analysis at the EBRD where he served as an editor of the annual Transition Report. Mr. Raiser holds a PhD in Economics from Kiel University, Germany, and an MSc. in Development Economics from the London School of Economics. He has published widely in academic journals on topics related to international economics, the micro-foundations of growth and the problems of economies in transition.
