Paula Stephan

Paula Stephan is Professor of Economics, Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, Georgia State University, and a Research Associate, National Bureau of Economic Research. Her research focuses on the economics of science, the careers of scientists and the process by which knowledge moves across institutional boundaries. She currently serves on the European Research Council Expert Group for Programme Monitoring and Evaluation, the National Research Council's Board on Higher Education and Workforce and served on the National Advisory General Medical Sciences Council, National Institutes of Health from 2005-2009. Stephan is a member of the Board of Reviewing Editors of Science. She has published numerous articles in journals such as Science, Nature, The American Economic Review, Management Science and Organization Science. Her most recent book, How Economics Shapes Science, was published by Harvard University Press, 2012.
